FAQ :
Can you print a map of Waterdeep, Forgotten Realms, or anything else that someone else has published?
Nope. That’s all copyright infringement and I refuse to put myself at risk. What I will print is something that has been 100% made by you and only once you have provided the release and approval for me to print it.
Is that all you can print are maps?
We can print pretty much any image you can craft up! From your maps to player hand outs to even modules if you have one that you created! We can even print one off sheets that you have created, from custom monsters to house rules!
What’s it going to cost?
That really depends on a few different factors. We price out by the square foot, but different materials will have different costs.
Banner material is going to be the most economical. It is made from a 13 oz vinyl and averages about $4.00 a square foot, meaning that a 3’x3′ map would cost about $36.00 (there are other options that go along with that, if you want grommets or have the edges sewn) plus shipping (shipping is based on where you live and the final weight of the print).
Fabric material is a higher end material and costs about $15.00 a square foot plus shipping.
We have other materials as well but with RPGPrints.com being in it’s infancy, I am holding off on offering those materials until I get a firm grasp on the logistics.
Do you take my artwork or do I give you an idea of what I want?
I use your artwork. I can’t draw and I’ve never had the patience to use map making software. There are a lot of talented artists out there that have hand-drawn their maps, and while it would be ideal for me to scan their maps in to print, that’s not exactly a viable option if someone lives across the country or in a different country. I am exploring options on how you can get your hand drawn maps to me. The easy solution is for you to scan it in at 300 dpi (or higher) and submit it.
What kind of artwork is best to submit?
Vector format is best (.ai , .eps , .cdr) as that can be scaled to almost any size. A high resolution .jpg (300 dpi or higher) will also work, as will a .pdf. Please avoid .gif and .bmp (they are too low of a quality). Artwork should be submitted at the exact size you want it to print (a 1:1 ratio); meaning that if you want a 8’x8′ map, your artwork should also be 8’x8′ (at 300dpi that would be 28,000 pixels x 28,000 pixels). Vector would be an exception to this as it can generally be scaled to whatever size requested.
How fast will I get my map?
We print pretty quickly, generally our turn around is 24 to 48 hours after final approval and payment has been received. Once we have your artwork or team will then compile it and send you an art proof (in the form of a .pdf) to approve. One you have approved it, then it will go to print. For shipping, we try to use FedEx when possible. There are different options for shipping via FedEx (ground, 2 day air, overnight) that can speed up the shipping time, but that will effect the end cost to you. We will calculate that cost for you and it will be included in your proof along with instructions as to how to pay.
How do I pay?
We use PayPal, but are exploring other possible options.
Can you ship internationally?
We can! However, keep in mind the state of the world right now. I am based in the United States and many countries are holding shipments from the US for several days before they get processed to their final destination. This can be compounded if the shipping route take your map through multiple countries. In some instances, shipping internationally may cost more than the print itself.
When I try to submit my artwork it tells me that the file size it too big.
Yeah, sadly most detailed artwork is pretty big. For quoting purposes, just save your artwork as a smaller .jpg so that we can at least get a visual to quote off of. Depending on file size, it may be necessary for us to have you submit it in an alternate way (either via a file stream upload or mail it to us on a usb).
I have a question not asked above…
Excellent! We’d love to talk to you! I can be found on Twitter (smack that little bird icon at the bottom of the page) and you can always ask me there, or you can submit your question using the quote form listed here:
